This LEGO Ideas 'Hello Kitty and Friends' Project Is Too Cute
Alright Sanrio lovers, this is something you will want to see. LEGO fan designer Ivan Guerrero is hoping to bring his LEGO Hello Kitty and Friends set to life and it’s oh so adorable.
The LEGO Hello Kitty and Friends project features Sanrio’s extensive library of characters such as Hello Kitty, Keroppi, My Melody, Kuromi and Badtz-Maru and is inspired by the animated Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventures.
The set also pays tribute to Sanrio’s long history of adorable gift items and accessories and depicts four mini buildings from Sanrio Town. The buildings include: Hello Kitty’s Café, Keroppi’s Mini Mart, My Melody’s Gift Shop and Badtz-Maru’s Arcade.
Each structure opens up and reveals a little play set filled with dozens of hidden Easter eggs that reference scores of other characters, including Tuxedo Sam, Little Twin Stars, Pompompurin, and many more. The set comes with minifigures and mini builds that allow you to build your very own Hello Kitty, Badtz-Maru, Keroppi, My Melody, Kuromi and Cinnamoroll.
Each building also doubles as a cute desk accessory such as a phone holder, a pen organiser, a jewellery box and a coin box. Each building features a minifigure baseplate and a façade that resembles classic Sanrio products and artwork – with the coin bank being a call-back to Hello Kitty’s debut appearance in 1974 on a coin purse.
This isn’t Guerrero first time submitting a LEGO Idea. The Philippines-based LEGO fan designer previously submitted a Sesame Street project that eventually got produced in 2020. So, Sanrio lovers, if this is a set that you’d love to see in real life one day, all you have to do is show your support.
Currently at 781 supporters at the point of writing, Guerrero needs at least 10,000 supporters for LEGO to review his design. Upon review, LEGO gets the final decision on whether or not this set gets to hit retail shelves.
